On Our Hearts: Hope
There are days when we just feel so alone. We're tired, we're stressed, and we're running on empty. It's so easy just to fall into the trap of feeling sorry for ourselves. The devil tells us that we are the only ones going through what we're going through, that no one else understands us, and that we're never going to get out of the pit of troubles. We feel that we're not good enough, not smart enough, and that no one could possibly love us. But Your word tells us different.
Lord, we ask that you pick us up. Dust us off and wrap Your loving arms around us. Just as You were able to make the blind man see, You can open our eyes to the beauty that You have created us to be. Just as You made the lame walk, You can transport us from pity and despair to joy and hope. Lord, You are capable of what feels like the impossible. We can rest in You and have hope that we are not alone, we are bound for greatness, and that we are lovable. Lord, the next time self-doubt and pity creeps in we ask that You replace those feelings with confidence and hope.
Amen
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

On Our Hearts: Military Moms
Today we want to lift up those moms who have dedicated their lives to the military. These women face unique challenges that most civilian moms never encounter. In addition to serving our country they deal with the day to day issues of parenting, home life, and spouses. While they defend our freedom they may have to leave their chilren and families behind. They often have to take off their "mom hat" and put on battle fatigues. They are mommy one minute and soldier the next.
Lord, we pray for those women who have laid their life on the line to serve in the military - past and present. We ask that You watch over them and protect them. May they be comforted as they leave their family behind for the battle lines. Father, we ask that You provide them with the right people and resources in their lives so that they are able to focus on their call of duty without worry. We pray for their families as they struggle with schedules, long absences and the stress that comes with military life. Lord we thank you for these women who make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Bless them, God. In Jesus' name,
Amen

On Our Hearts: Deliverance From Sin
We're not perfect. We've all sinned, we still sin, and we'll probably sin again. We strive to be perfect like Your Son, yet we all have an area where we fall short. We call them vices, habits, tendencies, or curses, but in truth they are sin and they keep us from an intimate relationship with You, Lord.
It's not comfortable but Lord we're asking that You help us to remove that sin from our lives. Let it be today, God. Right now we walk away from the stronghold that divides us from righteousness. Give us Your strength to resist the sin that our human nature wants to hold onto. Give us the ability to stand firm when we are tempted. Whatever it may be Lord, we ask for a complete removal. And if there are sins that we don't recognize, we pray that You will make them evident so that we may delivered from it.
Amen

On Our Hearts: Patience
There are so many things that we have prayed for and yet we still wait for Your answer. We are at the mercy of Your perfect timing - unfortunately we are not so good at waiting. We continually seek immediate and self-gratifying answers though You have told us to wait and be patient. We can't see the big picture that You have so carefully painted for us. We're too eager to skip past all the "little" things and just get to the end result.
Lord, we know deep down that You have an awesome plan for our lives. We know that as our Father You know what is best for us. We also know that no amount of manipulating or plotting will get us the result You desire for us. We ask that You give us the patience to wait. Give us a joyful spirit in faith that You will answer our prayers, that You will give us what we seek. God, You are our Provider, Deliverer, and Companion we put our hope in You.
Amen

On Our Hearts: Money
Your word has said that we should not be focused on those things that are material in nature. We should be confident that You will provide for all our needs, but Lord all too often we forget that. In today's society money drives our daily lives, it is has become an integral part of us. They way we live, give, fellowship, and raise our children all seems to be dependent upon how we use money. For so many of us, money has become our identity or the way in which we associate with others. Are we driving the right car? Are we wearing the right clothes? Are we giving our children the right "stuff" to fill their lives? It's time to turn it all over to You, Lord.
Lord only You can change our mindset. Shift our focus from earthly treasures to the heavenly ones. We pray that we ignore the devil when he starts to tell us that we don't have enough. Help us to be thankful for what we have. Give us financial wisdom so that we may be good stewards for You, Lord. We also pray that we can be an example to our children so that their financial decisions are based on faith not on the world's views. Let us invest in You so that we may receive dividends of righteousness.
Amen

On Our Hearts: Husbands
Lord thank you so much for the people and relationships you have put in our lives. For those of us who have husbands we are especially blessed. You have given us a companion, a provider, and friend. It is amazing to think just how you crafted our lives so that we would find the right man for the rest of our lives.
God we ask that you show us how to be an honoring and loving wife to our husbands. Help us to look past all the annoyances and nagging things that first come to mind. Show us how to lift up our husbands in our home and in front of others. Let us be diligent in the way that we treat him. Sow in us a joyful spirit of companionship so that we may be the Proverbs 31 wife that You desire us to be.
And Lord for those of us without husands we pray that You will provide all of their needs. We ask for Your will as they seek companionship. Help them to rely on You, their heavenly groom, as they take this journey alone.
Amen
